croup

remember, in anne of green gables, when anne saves minnie mae barry from dying of "the croup"? i think she used mustard plaster and something called ipecac. i had neither of those remedies on hand, nor the experience to recognize croup. i was getting scared that ben had pneumonia, after several days of tight coughing and no improvement. thankfully, our good doctor loucks gave ben's chest one listen and diagnosed him with minnie mae's disease. he had a breathing treatment and a steroid shot and is perking right up, although he still looks pale and tired. visiting the pediatrician was decidedly less dramatic than anne's heroic midnight intervention, which was great because who needs more drama?

two days til baby comes...

Hurray for doctors. Hurray for Ben. I'll have to say hurray for Anne of Green Gables making it to your blog too. One of my "bosom friends" from childhood and still with me from time to time in my adult life. I'm with you dearheart, in my heart. Can hardly wait to hear the news on Monday.

Glad Ben is doing better! Thankfully modern medicine has come along far enough that you don't have to deal with ipecac! My brother had an experience with it as a kid after he ate an entire bottle of children's aspirin. (How he got it open, we still don't know.) And thanks for the Anne reference! I'm a huge fan of those books and read through them quite often, especially the ones from her adult years.

I'll be praying for you come Monday, that things will go smoothly and that you'll get the holding-time you wanted right after birth.
